AILA-Europe Junior Researcher Meeting in Applied Linguistics, 6th-8th September 2017 University of Vienna, Austria

The 9th Junior Researcher Meeting will focus on Language(s) in Society. We welcome paper presentations and posters in the following areas:

  • Language Politics & Policies
  • Language varieties
  • Regional and minority languages
  • Language(s) & Education
  • Sociolinguistics
  • Language & Gender
  • Language, Ideology & Power
  • Multilingualism
  • Transcultural Communication
  • Language acquisition & language learning

Other topics may also be accepted. A paper may present also work in progress.

The three-day Junior Researcher Meeting allows early career applied linguists to present their research and network in an interactive and informal international environment.  ‘Junior Researchers’ include those working on their Master’s and PhD theses, as well as those who have graduated within the last three years. At the conference, each session will have designated senior researchers as commentators to foster questions and discussion. The programme will also include workshops on various aspects of an academic career, such as publishing and funding.
